Hello everyone!
 This is my second entry for the Paper Heart Movie Poster Contest. I worked really hard on it, so if you would like to support me, please leave a comment and fav if you like! :3What does love mean to me?: Love is a journey. It takes us many different places. Maybe a friendship becomes something more. Maybe a father takes his daughter on a fishing trip. Maybe a couple celebrates their 27th anniversary. Maybe a girl cries on her best friend's shoulder. Love is a journey you take together, whether it's with a family member, a best friend, or a lover. You know you share this journey with someone when you feel as if you cannot live without them in your life. The sea we sail upon is made of the thousands of memories we make together. And when observed from afar, we realize what we are emerged in is the undying bond we call love. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Those small beads draw a pretty big shadow on the paper... How did you get that effect? The time you put into it doesn't seem likely considering what I'm seeing. Can you explain a bit on what you did to amount to that time?
The two characters lack detail (That's putting it mildly), and that's something I'm not used to seeing from you. Why did you go for that effect?

The characters are meant to lack detail so as to be more vague. In addition, they lack detail because they are smaller than one's pinky fingernail.
The time I spent on this was consumed by working and reworking the set up of the beads, taking pictures, editing the picture I decided to use, editing a typeface, and creating my own typeface. I also had to edit color settings, change the composition around and take a look at the work in its printed form (which I did multiple times). I was pretty happy with it, at least.
Maybe a lot of my time was taken up by loading and saving the photoshop file due to the fact that it is so large. 27 x 41 inches at 200dpi is nothing to scoff at. I suppose it is inaccurate but it was somewhat of an understatement to begin with so I felt it was about right. Also... I tried to take my time with this as opposed to some of my other works that I tend to rush. (I guess it is not apparent how much work actually did go into this since it's such a simple image, so it doesn't really surprise me that you're asking about it).
I went for this effect because the contest is looking for entries that respond to the theme "what does love mean to you?" as well as using similar graphic elements from the advertising campaign. The paper hearts and dolls reminded me of small things, such as seed beads. I also wanted to create a more symbolic piece as opposed to my last entry which was more literal.
It's clear that this is not a favorite of yours, and I don't expect you to "fav" it. I do appreciate you taking the time to comment, though. :3
